Total cmd portable: Why you need this shareware file manager for Windows

Yes, I can make it, but not only for the MS Code Studio, but for every editor, of course with the known requirements for the folder hierarchy of the currently added ones. My first decision was to use only officially released portable editor/viewers, but why to restrict the users? Let them use what they want. So I add an option for that and remove the currently 'hardcoded'.

Total cmd portable

Tested with the regular installed version just for having data `%HOMEDRIVE%%HOMEPATH%\AppData\Roaming\GHISLER` and with the portable one - both are running as expected. I can not reproduce your issue :/

Great work! I use and love Total Commander for many many years and finally there is a PA compatible version. Thank you so much. I have just one suggestion regarding the external editor. There are many other potential portable editors. But, the executable exe file doesn't necesserally need to have the same name as its containing folder. This is true, e.g., the portable version of PSPad. But your current solution always resolves the provided name is this: $1\$R0\$R0.exe as can be seen in the file Other\Source\PortableEditorAndExtViewer.nsh. This means, when one configures PortableEditor=PSPadPortable in the TotalCommanderPortable.ini it is resolved to %COMMANDER_PATH%\..\..\..\PSPadPortable\PSPadPortable.exe. It would be more flexible if we were able to configure something like this: PortableEditor=PSPadPortable\pspad.exe. Can you change that?

Good effort, please continue.FYI: I've spot some issues with external editor/viewer settings. For some reason the settings are removed at the next time I've started TC.At the moment I've found another way to install TC. I hope it will be useful for someone until this version is in the testing.1. Please look for tc2usb tool here: 2. Run it with current TC installation and follow instructions. At the end you will get portable installation of TC and required icons will be in Launch menu as well.

A portable application can be run from a removable drive (USB flash drive, iPod, portable hard drive, etc) on any Windows computer without installation. You will carry the program with settings on removable drive and don't modify settings on host computer. On Vista and above turn off User Account Control (UAC) or run launcher as admin.

Your solution is to write a few lines in total Commander.ini. So easy copy and paste ..... But de botom right is disable. Fantastic. Your web is de only one with this particularity on the world. Yeah

Your wincmd.key will be used if found in Data\TotalCommander.For me it is not used and when i close totalcmd it is deleted.I change the TotalCommanderPortable.ini value PersonalKey=true and i have the same issue

I have TC installed as a portable app on O: drive. I manually added the program file name to the FoldersPopup options and the Use TC Tabs option is checked but I don't see the TC menu when calling FoldersPopup.

What does it do?It registers Total Commander's location in the registry. And starts Total Commander with the parameter '/i='.This 'I=' parameter is used to call the wincmd.ini, but StartTCMD does this for you.At the same time it sets the Total Commander Install dir (in totalcmd.ini) to the path from where TCMD-Portable.exe starts (e.g. the Total Commander Path)And it sets the the variable %COMMANDER_PATH% in the registry to the path where TCMD-Portable is started from.

PortableApps is a de-facto standard for portable applications on a regular USB stick created by John T. Haller and his team. Meanwhile a large number of applications have been made available, which are implemented according to the PortableApps specifications; and all of them are free to use, free to copy and free to share. This includes a PortableApps.Com Menu. All PortableApps applications can be downloaded from John T. Hallers Website

If you want to try integrating EVERYTHING directly into your TC own installation from scratch, then just copy out util_everything from the above download, look in c:\totalcmd\plugins\, and follow the instructions in Appendix B of this article on EVERYTHING. Note, doing it from scratch is a bit complicated but all is explained.

  • Total Commander is a shareware Orthodox File Manager (OFM) for Windows. Some features include a built-in FTP client, file compare, archive file navigation, and a multi-rename tool.At one point, Total Commander was called Windows Commander; the name was changed in 2002 after the developers received a letter from Microsoft alleging "Windows" was a registered trademark.[1]This application is written by Christian Ghisler in Delphi 2 (32-bit version) and Delphi 1 (16-bit version). The program is extensible by programmers via an open plugin-API and it has the ability to bind external programs for viewing or editing files. Many plugins are freely available for e.g. different packer formats or file viewer for special file formats.A freeware version of Total Commander also exists for Windows Mobile. The main version is shareware Other Internet Software.Net Framework
